Parkour India National Jam 2012
In May 2012, Parkour Mumbai hosted the Parkour India National Jam 2012: a three-day gathering presented by Parkour India at the community’s gym at the Sports Authority of India facility in Kandivali (East), Mumbai. NOS later reported it as the largest parkour jam India had yet seen, with visitors from more than five cities.
The jam ran Friday 4 May through Sunday 6 May 2012, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM each day. The original announcement and full schedule survive on the old IndianParkour.org site.
Programme highlights
Across the three days, the jam mixed open gym sessions, outdoor training, seminars, and community discussions:
- Friday: NOS led a seminar on safety, injury prevention, and progression; Chennai Parkour ran an undisclosed seminar; an invitation-only Parkour India initiative panel for community heads ran in the evening.
- Saturday: Morning flips at Juhu Beach; NOS’s strength-training seminar; a formal basics workshop with Parkour Mumbai.
- Sunday: The Ultimate Sledgehammer Challenge (invitation-only participation, spectators welcome); an open Parkour India community discussion; farewell dinner.
Out-of-town attendees could stay at the SAI guesthouse next to the gym, the same accommodation used during the National Jam 2010.
Jam coordinators
Registrations were handled through regional coordinators listed on the announcement, including Shivam Aher (Nasik) and Diptarko Bhattacharya (Kolkata).
